I'm a highly motivated individual with a passion for learning. I have three main interests in botany, soil science and general technology. Botany is the area I would rank at the highest and as such, I hope to one day be in a practical research-based position in, root phenotyping, plant pathology, biotechnology or plant breeding areas. I've completed a research masters in UCD with the company Auranta. I then completed my PhD in UCD looking at the root : soil interaction of cereal crops. I'm a practical person and love to do all the maintenance on mine and family members cars as well as odd household DIY jobs. I also have created my own personal website (in development as you can see) with a brief overview about me.

The project looks to investigate the roots of Irish cereal crops in abiotic stresses. For example, barley roots in waterlogged conditions. Technologies such as X-ray Computed tomography (CT) and WinRHIZO will have been used with plenty of image analysis. This project is a Teagasc Walsh scholarship based in UCD with some work in Oak Park Co. Carlow.
University College Dublin• January 2016 - January 2018
The project title was: The Potential of plant strengtheners to enhance resistance against take-all and late blight. The project explored the use of two plant strengtheners against take-all (Gaeumannomyces tritici) in wheat and Late blight (Phytophthora infestans) in potatoes.
University College Dublin• June 2014
In the final year of this degree, a project was completed with the title of, the bioactivity of embryogenic conditioned cell culture medium on roots. The topics of plant pathology, plant biotechnology, plant evolution and plant stress were completed as part of the botany course as well as elements from the cell biology, zoology, genetics and environmental biology courses.
